| The famous Arattu festival is held annually at the Janardhanaswamy Temple at Varkala, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The festival is celebrated in Meenam (March- April) and lasts for 10 days. It starts with flag hoisting on Karthika day and wind up with Arattu on Uthram day. A colourful procession led by elephants decorated with peacock fans and ornamental silk umbrellas is a prominent highlight of this festival. |
