Undavalli Caves

Undavalli caves are located in the village of Undavalli of Guntur district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. These caves belong to 4th to 5th centuries A.D. and are set at the top of hill that faces the river Krishna. These four-storied caves are fine specimens of rock cut architecture of India.
The major attraction of this place is the huge statue of Lord Vishnu sculpted from a single block of granite and the statue of Lord Buddha that is five meter long. Sculptures carved by skilled craftsmen can be found in the walls of the caves. The structure of these caves resembles the architectural and sculptural proficiency of Buddhist culture.
