| Ugadi is the commencement of a new lunar calendar. It is the New Year's Day and is particularly observed in states of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. On this day people go to temples to chant mantras and worship god to invoke his blessings prior to the start of the New Year. |
