| Therayattam festival is held in the months of January to March. It is a famous feast festival of Kerala. At Trichur, Pooram the feast of the Shaivite temples is devotedly celebrated in April or early May. |

| The festival is famous for its masked dances. From dawn onwards the enthusiastic and energetic dance performers start performing their dance which seems to be the synthesis of all the different religious groups. The festival attracts millions of spectators to watch the celebrated procession of elephants. During the parade the musicians keep on playing their instruments for the whole day long. The procession is led by the beating of the drums and blowing of the bugles. |
