The Fairy Queen

Fairy Queen is a train that has one of the oldest steam locomotives in the world. This train was brought in use first in the year 1855. This train is famous for its loco which was designed by Kitson, Thompson, & Hewitson, (Leeds, UK). This loco was given the name as East Indian Railway loco no. 22. This is the oldest loco still working in India. The Fairy Queen was quite famous during its time and was retired from services in the year 1909. Since then this train was kept in the National Rail Museum. But when found that its loco is still perfectly working this train was put again on tracks to provide tourist services.
In the year 1997 it was deployed in hauling a two coach super luxury train to Alwar in Rajasthan. Since then Fairy Queen is running between Delhi and Alwar and provides a luxury journey for 2 days including a trip to a tiger sanctuary.
