Subhadra Kumari Chauhan

Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, an Indian poetess was born in a village referred Nihalpur in Allahabad District. It was subsequent to her marriage to Thakur Laxman Singh of Khandwa in the year 1919 that she shifted to Jabalpur. In the year1921, she became the first woman Satygrahi to court arrest in Nagpur by joining the Non-Cooperation Movement.
She has been the author several popular works in Hindi poetry inclusive of the famous composition Jhansi ki Rani about the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai. Subhadra wrote in the Khariboli dialect of Hindi, that was simple and a clear style. She is also attributed with a collection of short stories inclusive of Bhikhre Moti, Unmadini, and Seedhe-Saade Chitra based upon the life of middle class. In the year 1948, she died in a car accident.
