Somnath Temple

The Somnath Temple is located on the western coast of Gujarat, India. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlings symbols of Lord Shiva. This legendary temple was destroyed seven times and rebuilt as many times. It is built in the Chalukya style architecture and reflects the skill of the Sompuras, Gujarat's master masons. Somnath is considered to be the oldest creation built by the Moon God.
The Somnath temple has magnificent architecture and is faces the blue expanse of the Arabian Sea. The construction of the present temple in Junagadh district began in 1980. It is the seventh temple built to commemorate the glory of Lord Somnath.
