Shivaji Ganeshan



Sivaji Ganesan was a legendary Indian film actor. He was born on October 1, 1927. In the Tamil film industry, he was famous for his versatility and expressive skill. ‘Parasakthi’ (1952) was his first film. He has acted in more than 300 films. The Ministry of Culture, Government of France awarded him with the title of Chevalier. He became a strong supporter of Indian National Congress and particularly the veteran leader K. Kamaraj in 1961.
Ganesan suffers from respiratory problems and was also suffering from a prolonged heart ailment for about 10 years. He died on July 21, 2001 at the age of 73. He was a recipient of various awards that include Padma Shri (1966), Padma Bhushan (1984), Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1996) and many more.
