Shashi Tharoor



Shashi Tharoor is a journalist, author and fellow of the USC Centre on Public Diplomacy. He was born on 9 March 1956 in London. He started writing at the age of 6 and his first story appeared in the ‘Bharat Jyoti’ when he was 10. Between June 2002 and February 2007, he served as the UN Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information.
Most of the literary creations of Shashi are centred on Indian themes and has written number of books in English. ‘The Great Indian Novel’ published in 1989 was one of his most famous works. Since 2001, he had been writing a fortnightly column for The Hindu Newspaper and a weekly column in the Times of India since January 2007.
