Shantha Sinha



Prof. Shantha Sinha was born on 7th January, 1950. She is an internationally reputed anti-child labour activist. She is a Professor in the Department of Political Science in Hyderabad Central University and the founder of the MV Foundation. For her community leadership, she earned the internationally renowned Ramon Magsaysay award in 2003. In 1999, she was conferred the Padma Shri and the Albert Shanker International Award from Education International.
Shantha has made huge contribution in the area of child development. Presently, she is focusing on the development of girl child who are engaged in the industries as bonded labourers. She has also taken up a number of social issues such as compulsory school education and eradication of child labour.
