Samjhauta Express

Samjhauta Express is the most famous and popular train of the Indian railways network that runs between India and Pakistan. This trans-national train was started on July 22, 1976 following the Shimla Agreement. It ran between Amritsar and Lahore. Before the reopening of Thar Desert, the Samjhauta Express was the only link between India and Pakistan.
Samjhauta (Compromise/negotiation) Express is commonly also known by the name of Friendship Express (Since it's a bond between two countries). Presently Samjhauta Express runs twice in a week i.e. on Tuesdays and Fridays and runs between Delhi and Attari in India and Wagah and Lahore in Pakistan.

Samjhauta Express is the life-line of many people who left their homes and migrated to the other country during the partition.
