The pre-historic era of India is quite rich, as the subcontinent witnessed all the stages of the human development until today. It comprised of Palaeolithic, Mesolithic as well as Neolithic Age without any discontinuity. The examples of the pre-historic era can be experienced in the Solan Valley (Himachal) as well as the Bhimbetka caves (Madhya Pradesh). These were discovered by the relentless efforts undertaken by the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India).
The prime informants about the pre-historic era are the stone tools, human and animal skeletals, cave paintings, pottery and even pieces of jewellery. Unfortunately, due to the absence of any literary resources a variety of aspects concerning the pre-historc era are still untold.
