Onam |
|
Onam is an annual harvest festival and is celebrated mainly in Kerala. It marks the return of legendary King Mahabali.
This festival is celebrated for ten days and square pyramids made of earthen mud are placed on the entrance of the house. These represent two Gods of Hindus - Vishnu and Mahabali. |

People wear new clothes to mark the festival. During Onam, people create a multi-colored floral decoration on the ground in the front of their home called 'rangoli' and also prepare many mouth watering delicacies.
People visit temples and offer their prayers to God and also decorate their house with colorful electric bulbs and also flowers. |
