Naag Panchami is a festival in which the snake is worshiped as the mentor of Lord Shiva and other Hindu Gods. It falls on the fifth day, in the month of July or August. On this day men and women generally observe a fast. .The Snake God is bathed with milk on Naag Panchami. It is supposed to be very auspicious. |

The devotees visit the temples of Lord Shiva, and offer milk, fruits and flowers. Sweets are also distributed on this day. Devotees consider themselves lucky if snakes drink offered milks. Naag Panchami is observed and celebrated in different ways in various parts of India. |
