Lal Bagh Gardens

The Lal Bagh garden is a botanical garden located in Bangalore. It is of royal origin and was initially started in 1760, as a private garden by the famous ruler of old Mysore, Hyder Ali. Further, the garden was extended and developed by Tipu Sultan, the son of Hyder Ali.
In 1856, Lal Bagh attained the status of a Government Botanical Garden. It is today well-known throughout the world as the centre for scientific study of plants, conservation of plants and botanical artworks. Some of the major highlight of this garden is its magnificent glass house built in 1840, its artistic landscape and the expansive lush lawns with abundance of flowerbeds, lotus pools and fountains.
