Dr. John Martin Honigberger is the person who is recognised to have brought homeopathy to India for the first time. He treated several Maharajas and was made officer-in-charge of a hospital. This royal patronage eventually helped the system to have its roots in India. In India, homeopathy has today become the third most popular method of treatment, after Allopathy and Ayurveda.

At present, one can find nearly 186 homeopathic medical colleges in India. It is estimated that there are about quarter million homeopaths in India. The present legal status of homeopathy is very much at par with the conventional medicine in India.

It is a much known branch of medicine. Homeopathy is very old and is very efficient medicine. It cures diseases in a natural way and do not create any side effect.
It is based on 3 principles :

  • Like cures like
  • Minimal Dose
  • The Single Remedy
Similar principals form the basis of conventional allergy treatment, where the allergic substance is given in a small dose.

It is the second most widely used system of medicine in the world. Homeopathy is safe because everything is very-very dilute. Many herbal remedies and supplements can cause lasting damage if not taken carefully.

It is a form of alternative medicine first defined by Samuel Hahnemann in the 18th century.
