|India has a continuous civilization since 2500BC. It started when an urban culture was developed by the inhabitants of the Indus River Valley based on commerce and continued by agricultural trade.
Gradually Aryan speaking tribes migrated into the subcontinent from northwest during the second millennium BC. They adopted antecedent culture and settled in the mid of Ganges River Valley.
The Persian kings Cyrus and Darius were the next to invade in India around 500BC. It was followed by the rule of Alexander and after his defeat, came the Maurayas who reached its peak under King Ashoka around 260BC, after that flourished the Gupta dynasty. This was followed by the invasion of Muslims and then the Europeans. And finally, after several years of struggle and sacrifices, India became republic on 26 January, 1950.
