Golden Temple

Golden Temple is the most prominent shrine of Sikhism. It is also known as 'Harmandir Sahib' or 'Darbar Sahib' and is located in Amritsar. This temple is built on a platform located in the centre of the Sarovar (tank). The 11th guru of Sikhism, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, is always present inside the temple. Countless number of visitors from all walks of life and all religion can come here and worship God equally.
The first foundation stone of the temple was laid on 1588, by Hazrat Mian Mir, the great Muslim Sufi Saint of Lahore. The construction of the temple was completed in 1604, during the leadership of the fifth Guru, Guru Arjan Dev (1581-1606).
