Gautama Buddha

Gautama Buddha was a spiritual teacher and founder of Buddhism. He was born around 565 BC in Nepal and died around 483 BC. He was originally named as 'Siddhartha Gautama’ and was born as a prince. However, he was not happy with his life. So, he gave up his householder's life and devoted himself in search for the ultimate truth.

Buddha kept on wandering for many years and soon realised the four noble truths- ‘The Noble Truth of Suffering’, ‘The Noble Truth of The Arising of Suffering’, ‘The Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering’ and ‘The Noble Truth of The Path leading to the Cessation of Suffering’. Later, he gained many followers and after 45 years of teaching, Buddha passed into Parinirvana- the final deathless state abandoning the earthly body.
