| Gangaur festival holds a special significance for the women of Rajasthan. During this festival, goddess Gauri, the consort of Lord Shiva is worshiped. This festival starts the day after Holi and continues for about two weeks. |

| During this festival prayerful songs for Lord Shiva and Goddess Gauri are sung. To celebrate these auspicious festival women put henna on their hands and make clay images of Shiva and Gauri. On the last day, the images of Gauri and painted water pots on the heads are taken out in procession. The procession ends with the breaking of pots and throwing the thrash into a pond or tank and leaving behind the images of Gauri. |
