Dusshera

Dusshera is a day which marks the victory of good over evil. It is a day of victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. It marks the victory of righteousness and justice. The festival is celebrated over a period of ten days. In these ten days, the story of Ram's life is performed in a folk style form, i.e. in the form of Ram Lila.
Dusshera is one of the most popular festivals of India. This 10-day long festival is celebrated in September-October. It is celebrated differently in different states. During these ten days, Goddess Durga is worshipped for Navarathri (nine nights), and on the tenth day, Goddess Saraswati is worshipped.

On the tenth day the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad are burnt with crackers to glorify the victory of good over evil. And then people eat sweets and exchange gifts with family and friends to show their happiness.
