Dr. S Radhakrishnan



Sir Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was an Indian statesman and philosopher. He was born on September 5, 1888. He was the vice-president of India (1952-1962) and became the second President of India (1962-1967). In India, his birthday is celebrated as Teacher's Day. He authored several books according to the Western academic standard.
In 1938, Radhakrishnan was elected as a Fellow of the British Academy. He was awarded with the Bharat Ratna in 1954 and the Order of Merit in 1963. In 1961 he received the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade and the Templeton Prize in 1975, a few months before his death on April 17, 1975.
