|Manmohan Singh was born in Gah, Punjab (now in Pakistan) on September 26, 1932. He is the 17th and present Prime Minister of India. He is a member of the Indian National Congress party and first Sikh Prime Minister of India. He has been the most influential figure in the recent history of India, particularly due to the economic reforms as a Finance Minister in 1991. He completed graduation and post graduation from Punjab University, Chandigarh and another undergraduate degree from Cambridge University. He did a D.Phil from Oxford University and the University of Alberta awarded him with an Honorary Doctor of Laws. Singh is an economist by profession has worked for International Monetary Fund and is considered a humble politician.
