|The entire credit of bringing women's archery in to limelight on national level goes to Dola Banerjee. She is the first Indian woman to attain international success in sports, which was till that point of time considered a male fortress. Being a Numero Uno woman archer, Dola earned the reputation of being the first Indian woman archer to qualify for Olympics in the 42nd World Outdoor Target Archery Championship, New York. She created history in 2005 by succeeding the 18th Golden Arrow Grand Prix tournament at Turkey. She has been rewarded with the Arjuna Award for the year 2005.
