The Clouded Leopard is a medium-sized cat. These are very beautiful cats native to parts of Asia. These are mainly found in southern China, the eastern Himalayas, north-east India and mainland Southeast Asia. It has a yellowish-brown coat, and is peculiarly marked with large, irregularly-shaped ellipses which are said to be shaped like clouds. And so it is called clouded leopard. The spots, which are generally dark brown with a black outline, provide excellent camouflage in the leopard’s forest habitat. |
The Clouded Leopard has a large build and they weigh around 35- 50 lbs.
The clouded leopard is a carnivore. Its prey includes the sambar, deer, birds, bearded pigs, civet, monkeys, gibbons, squirrels, porcupines, fish, domestic cattle and chicken. |
