|Basappa Danappa Jatti, known as B D Jatti was born to a Kannada family at Savalgi, Karnataka, India on September 10, 1912. He graduated as a lawyer from law College at Kolhapur and practiced law in Jamakhandi. He was the former Vice-President of India. In 1940, he got elected as a member of State Legislature. After this, he never looked back. In his ultimate political career, he held a number of important positions and finally became the president on February 11, 1977. After the merger of Bombay state with Jamakhandi, he was nominated as the member of the Legislative Assembly and the Deputy Minister of Health and Labour, the very same week.
