Akshardham Temple Gandhinagar



Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar is one of the largest temples in Gujarat of India. Built by the religious organisation called Bochasanwasi Akshar-Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) led by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, this temple combines many complex fields like devotions, art, architecture, education, exhibitions and research etc.
The main focus of the complex is a seven-foot high, gold leafed statue or Murti of Lord Swaminarayan which is enshrined in this temple. The temple is made of pink sandstone is called to be an architectural masterpiece. The Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar is the predecessor of the temple with the same name in Delhi that is built by the same organisation. The Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar came to international notice when it was attacked by two heavily armed terrorists in September 2002.
